And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arik Cannon!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelyanenko scoring well with a low kick there.
Emelyanenko throws a sloppy head kick and Cannon moves out of range easily.

Cannon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Cannon is working for a kimura but Emelyanenko is defending it quite comfortably.
Emelyanenko is pressing down on Cannon's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cannon wants to pass the guard but Emelyanenko is keeping the position.
Emelyanenko wants to stand and escape but Cannon is having none of it.

Cannon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Emelyanenko tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cannon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Cannon tries to free his leg and advance position but Emelyanenko is retaining full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cannon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Cannon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Emelyanenko is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here as Cannon stalls from top position.

Cannon is trying to get an arm triangle but Emelyanenko is defending well.

Cannon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Emelyanenko knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Cannon tries for a kimura but Emelyanenko is defending well.
Cannon looks gassed!

Cannon has hold of Emelyanenko's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Emelyanenko tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Cannon cranks the arm and Emelyanenko screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Emelyanenko, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
