PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Blatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blatt comes into the arena with you're going down- sick puppies blaring out of the sound system. Doe has chosen whatsername, and does she remember my name? as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jeff Blatt has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Blatt!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Doe!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blatt fails with an attempt to clinch.

Doe feints and as Blatt raises his hands in defense, Doe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Doe preventing the sweep.
Doe is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Doe sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Blatt's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Doe is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Blatt reverses the position - he's now on top in Doe's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Doe can do anything to dispel that myth.

Blatt looking to sit in guard and control but Doe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Blatt looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Doe content to stall in guard here.
Doe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Blatt is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blatt working for a triangle but Doe defends it easily.
Doe slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Blatt has his foot on Doe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Doe works his way back into a safe position though.
Doe wants to pass the guard but Blatt is keeping the position.

Doe seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Blatt tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Blatt tries to close the distance and clinch but Doe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Doe connects with a single shot there.
Jeff Blatt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Blatt drives through and clinches with Doe against the cage.
Blatt lands a nice shot to the body.
A right hook to the body lands for Doe.
Doe misses with the head strike.

Blatt lands a nice uppercut.
Blatt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Doe smiles and moves away.
Blatt misses with a takedown attempt
and Blatt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Blatt goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Blatt tries to clinch
and Doe counters with a right hand to the body.
Doe throws a leg kick which misses Blatt's front leg but catches the back leg as Blatt tries to avoid it.
Blatt scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Blatt misses the jab.
Blatt misses with a wild body shot.
Blatt misses with a straight right.
Blatt tries to clinch up
and Doe makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Blatt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Doe.
Doe circles away from the clinch attempt
and Doe counters with an inside leg kick.

Doe connects with a looping right hand.
Doe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blatt moves away.
A slow jab from Blatt misses its intended target.
Blatt misses with a double jab
and Doe connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jeff Blatt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Doe falls off balance throwing a combination
and Blatt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Blatt takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Blatt throws a left and a right that both miss
and Doe counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Blatt throws a series of strikes that have Doe backpedaling.
Doe throws a big shot that misses.
Blatt throws the left hand but Doe avoids the punch easily.
Blatt tries to score a power double leg takedown but Doe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Blatt somewhat.

Doe stuffs the takedown attempt from Blatt. Blatt gets slowly back to his feet.

and Doe counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Doe throws a lazy right hand but Blatt sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Blatt tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Doe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Doe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Blatt.
Doe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Blatt was well out of range. Poor timing from Doe.
Blatt fails with the takedown
and Doe finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Blatt swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Doe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blatt manages to avoid it.
Blatt takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Blatt throws a looping overhand right but Doe ducks down to avoid it.

and Blatt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Doe is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Blatt.

Doe with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Blatt to score with a decent uppercut.
Blatt throws a looping overhand right but Doe ducks down to avoid it.
Doe throws a body punch but Blatt moves out of range.
Doe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Blatt was well out of range. Poor timing from Doe.
Blatt is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Blatt walks into a left hand.
Blatt throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Doe sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Doe throws a sloppy body shot
and Blatt counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Doe throws the kick towards the body but Blatt avoids it.
Blatt missing with a left hand there. Doe was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Blatt ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Doe misses the body punch
and Blatt counters with a stiff right hand.
Blatt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Doe counters with a right hand to the body.
Jon Doe seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Blatt swings away with a body shot that misses
and Doe counters with a body kick that stops Blatt in his tracks momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jon Doe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Doe is looking for a sweep. Blatt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Blatt is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Doe still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Doe has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Doe tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Doe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blatt moves away.

Blatt shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Doe manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
