PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Craig Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spiro Graph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Graph is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Can't Be Touched. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Craig Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Spiro Graph!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Graph shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Mason is trying to escape the mount.
Graph trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Graph with shots to the head and body - Mason looks very uncomfortable down there.
Mason is desperately trying to improve his position but Graph has a good base and remains in mount.
Graph tries to control but Mason wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mason is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mason is working hard here to advance position.
Mason wants to hold on but Graph pushes him away.

Graph gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Graph tries for a takedown but Mason sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Mason digs a right hand underneath Graph's ribcage. Graph let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Graph wants a takedown.

Mason wants the takedown. Graph is fighting it off but Mason persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Graph's guard against the cage.

Mason thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mason looking to sit in guard and control but Graph gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mason seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Mason working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Graph doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Graph manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mason is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mason misses with a head shot. Graph uses the momentum to regain guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mason goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Mason drives through and clinches with Graph against the cage.

Mason ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mason no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mason scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Mason lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Graph tries to keep at a distance but Mason has taken the fight into the clinch.

Graph is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Graph works on Mason's body with a couple of short punches.
Graph has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mason is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Craig Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Spiro Graph.

Mason escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Graph changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mason looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Graph is looking to take a break and control but Mason is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Graph decides to stand back up.
Mason shoots in for a double leg but Graph sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mason is looking to stand up but Graph won't let him.

Graph is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mason closes this distance looking for a takedown but Graph circles away.
No luck for Mason with that takedown attempt.
Graph tries to close the distance and clinch but Mason swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Graph looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mason looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Graph is fending him off so far but Mason persists. Nope, Graph circles away and we're back to standing.

Mason had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Graph is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mason Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Graph's back instead.

Mason is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Graph knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Graph for a finish.

Craig Mason showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mason has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
