Shavnetski comes to the ring accompanied by DMX - get it on the floor. Dixon Jackson acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Jackson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shavnetski looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Jackson throws a left that rocks Shavnetski and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Jackson dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Shavnetski regain composure!

It looks like Vitus Shavnetski has been cut.
Jackson looks gassed!
Shavnetski is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Oh Shavnetski is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ground and pound from Jackson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Shavnetski takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Shavnetski is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shavnetski is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jackson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Shavnetski is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Jackson is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Shavnetski is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Shavnetski is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jackson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
