PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Pippen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Thrasher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Thrasher looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jordan Pippen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Thrasher!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pippen tries to close the distance and clinch but Thrasher swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Thrasher changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pippen tries to avoid it but Thrasher manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pippen to the ground. Pippen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pippen thuds a left hand into Thrasher's body.
Thrasher looks gassed!
Thrasher shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pippen pinned against the cage. Pippen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Pippen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thrasher.
Pippen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Pippen lands a lovely overhand right.
Pippen throws a series of punches but Thrasher avoids them all with ease.
Pippen with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Thrasher takes one on the button.
Pippen connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Thrasher needs to keep his hands up - Pippen had a free shot at his head there.

Pippen pushes Thrasher up against the ropes in a clinch.

Pippen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Pippen closes the distance and clinches.
Thrasher keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Pippen's efforts to push away.
A frustrated look appears on Pippen's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Pippen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pippen can't break the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thrasher drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jordan Pippen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Thrasher.

Pippen has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Pippen is trying to break the clinch but Thrasher has him pressed against the ropes.
Pippen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Pippen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Thrasher is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Pippen is defending well for now.
Pippen is trying to force a seperation but Thrasher has the dominant position.

Pippen wants to break free but Thrasher has control.
Thrasher jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pippen walks away with a smile on his face. Thrasher gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Pippen moves into range and connects with a jab.
Thrasher swats away the attempt to clinch by Pippen.
Pippen throws a one two combo.
Pippen tests Thrasher's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Pippen tries to clinch there but Thrasher circles away.
Pippen is looking to clinch but Thrasher is avoiding it.
Thrasher takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pippen lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
The fight stays on the outside here - Thrasher looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pippen is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
A left lands for Pippen.
Pippen cracks Thrasher with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Pippen tries to clinch up.
Pippen tries to close the distance and clinch but Thrasher swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pippen getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pippen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Pippen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Thrasher's hands.
Pippen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Pippen rushes Thrasher with punches - Thrasher moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Thrasher goes down! Pippen follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jordan Pippen!
