Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Georg the Caliph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Georg the Caliph!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rice!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rice will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
John Rice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A punch combination from Rice misses.
The fighters circling - Rice throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rice tries a head kick but it misses.
the Caliph throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rice will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
the Caliph falls off balance throwing a combination

and Rice counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rice.

Rice's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rice.
Rice slips a jab and a cross from the Caliph.
the Caliph punishes Rice's body with a nice straight punch.
Rice avoids the body shot from the Caliph.
Rice tries to close the distance and clinch up but the Caliph swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rice has closed the distance and engaged the Caliph in a clinch.
the Caliph is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rice.
the Caliph jumps guard but Rice stands there with the Caliph around his waist. the Caliph gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Rice is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. the Caliph is defending well for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
the Caliph blocks an elbow strike from Rice.
the Caliph stops a takedown attempt from Rice.
Georg the Caliph has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Rice.
the Caliph has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rice is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Rice throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but the Caliph blocks it with crossed arms.
Rice putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has the Caliph in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
the Caliph is trying to break the clinch but Rice is controlling him.

Rice gets control of the Caliph's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rice will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
the Caliph stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rice swivels though and keeps the full guard.
the Caliph wants to control from the top but Rice keeps moving.
the Caliph advances to half guard.

the Caliph is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rice has managed to free his arm - good work.

the Caliph is working for a submission of some sort.
Rice really doesn't want to stay on the ground with the Caliph. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

the Caliph is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rice is just riding it out for now. the Caliph eventually gives up the hold.
Rice is looking to escape.
the Caliph is looking to advance position but Rice won't allow it.
the Caliph thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
the Caliph stops Rice from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rice is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

the Caliph is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rice has managed to free his arm - good work.
Rice pushes the Caliph off looking to stand but the Caliph dives back in and keeps control.
the Caliph thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rice can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
the Caliph prevents Rice from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

the Caliph is working for a kimura but Rice is defending it quite comfortably.

the Caliph in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Rice tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from the Caliph!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Georg the Caliph!
