PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Sikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sikes comes to the cage accompanied by Bye Bye Bye. Rogers is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by American Badass by Kid Rock. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Sikes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sikes jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Sikes misses with a body kick.
Sikes shoots for a takedown but Rogers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Rogers.
Sikes fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rogers has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Sikes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rogers throws a front kick aimed at Sikes's knee but Sikes avoids it well.
Sikes jabs at Rogers's body.
Rogers throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Sikes looks for a takedown but Rogers sprawls well.
Rogers cracks Sikes with a right hand to the side of the head.
Rogers fails to land the takedown.
Sikes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rogers thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Sikes if he has to take too many more of those.

A chopping leg kick lands by Rogers.
Sikes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rogers sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Sikes throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rogers keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sikes throws a jab when Rogers was well out of range.
Rogers throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Rogers swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Rogers takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Rogers tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Sikes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rogers has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Sikes.
Sikes scores with a decent looking hook.
Sikes tries a head kick but it misses.
Sikes misses the body punch
and Rogers counters with a good low kick that Sikes was not able to check.
Frank Sikes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rogers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sikes but Sikes pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Rogers tried to score with a low kick but Sikes checks it.
Sikes jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Sikes on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Rogers drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sikes wants to control but Rogers postures up.
Sikes manages to get back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rogers is keen to just control but Sikes is a slippery customer.
Rogers throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Sikes is in trouble now - Rogers has advanced to mount!
Rogers controlling the position easily from mount.
Rogers with shots to the head and body - Sikes looks very uncomfortable down there.
Rogers looking to control and managing it successfully.
I looks like Rogers might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Rogers breaks from Sikes's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Sikes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Rogers landing punches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sikes tries to lock up and control but Rogers gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Rogers lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Sikes hang on?
Sikes is desperately trying to improve his position but Rogers has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Rogers dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rogers scores with a nice strike.
Nice defenses there by Rogers.
Sikes misses with a few strikes there.
Rogers fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sikes checks it well.
Sikes moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Sikes throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Rogers lands with a thumping leg kick.
Sikes throws a series of punches but Rogers avoids them all with ease.
Sikes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sikes tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Rogers uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sikes.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rogers.
Sikes swings for the body but Rogers moves out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rogers throws a quick inside leg kick.
A slow jab from Sikes misses its intended target.

Sikes blocks a head kick by Rogers.
Sikes misses with a double jab
and Rogers makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Sikes really felt that one!
Rogers lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Rogers fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Rogers drives through and clinches with Sikes against the cage.
Rogers throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Sikes blocks it with crossed arms.
A hook to the body from Rogers.
Rogers throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Sikess head.
Sikes tries to break the clinch but Rogers is controlling the position.
Sikes managing to block the knees to the body from Rogers.
Rogers lands a shoulder strike.
Sikes is trying to force a seperation but Rogers has the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rogers is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sikes pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Rogers lands a shoulder strike.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rogers creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rogers lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Sikes can't break the clinch.
Sikes is trying to break the clinch but Rogers is controlling him.
Rogers lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Rogers digs a right hand into Sikes's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Sikes's gas tank.
Sikes throws a punch but it's blocked by Rogers.
Rogers with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Sikes wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Sikes blocks an elbow strike.

Sikes wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The referee is keeping an eye on Rogers - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Rogers lands a body punch.
Rogers misses with a body punch.
Sikes looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Rogers wants a takedown but no success here.
Rogers leaning his opponent against the cage.
Rogers unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Sikes tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Sikes tries to circle away but Rogers has him pinned against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rogers creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Rogers lands a left hand.
Rogers is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Sikes avoids a wild elbow strike from Rogers.
Rogers keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sikes's efforts to push away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nice body punch from Rogers - that landed with a thud.
Rogers scores with a nice hook to the head.
Sikes is trying to maintain a safe position but Rogers gets an underhook and turns Sikes into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Rogers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Rogers shoots in but Sikes avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sikes checks a leg kick.
Sikes misses with a double jab
and Rogers counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Rogers looks at the referee who does nothing so Rogers lands a crushing right that sends Sikes to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Rogers!
