PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Kuorma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ican Pumbleski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Pumbleski's choice of entrance music: STAIND. Ican Pumbleski told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ican Pumbleski!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuorma misses with a body kick.
Pumbleski misses with a hook.
Kuorma lunges at Pumbleski with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Pumbleski's hand.
Pumbleski misses with a wild body shot.

Kuorma scores with a takedown into Pumbleski's guard.
Pumbleski has momentary wrist control but Kuorma slips an elbow through the middle.
Pumbleski wants to sweep here but Kuorma controlling him for the moment.

Pumbleski had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kuorma defends it easily.
Kuorma loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Pumbleski looking for a guillotine here but Kuorma defends easily.

Pumbleski keeping full guard, as Kuorma tries to pass.
Pumbleski keeping moving, preventing Kuorma from controlling successfully.
Kuorma slips nicely into half guard.
Pumbleski is refusing to be controlled, as Kuorma sits in half guard.
Kuorma lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Kuorma throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kuorma trying to control from half guard but Pumbleski is working away.
Pumbleski is trying to maintain the position but Kuorma is very close to passing his half guard.

Pumbleski looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Kuorma is nestled in close to Pumbleski, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Kuorma wants to control but Pumbleski is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kuorma looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Pumbleski actively working from the bottom here.
Kuorma stalling.
Kuorma has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Max Kuorma.
Nice jab there from Kuorma.
Kuorma fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pumbleski avoids it really well and circles away.
Pumbleski misses the jab.

Kuorma shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kuorma showed some decent athleticism there.
Kuorma thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pumbleski's head.
Kuorma controlling the action here.
Pumbleski is not content to let Kuorma control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kuorma shoots in looking for a takedown. Pumbleski tries to sprawl out of it but Kuorma keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pumbleski manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pumbleski misses with a body shot.
Kuorma swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kuorma gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kuorma keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Pumbleski's efforts to push away.
Pumbleski stops a takedown attempt from Kuorma.
Pumbleski tries to circle away but Kuorma has him pinned against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pumbleski is looking to break free of the clinch but Kuorma has double underhooks.

Kuorma is trying to trip Pumbleski. He has hold of a leg but Pumbleski is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kuorma persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Pumbleski had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kuorma defends it easily.

Pumbleski looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Kuorma is defending well. Pumbleski quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Kuorma has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Pumbleski celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ican Pumbleski!
