PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Salvador Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Canti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canti has chosen Roscoe Dash - All The Way Turnt Up ft. Soulja Boy Tell'em as his entrance music. Carlos Canti will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Salvador Cannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlos Canti!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Canti swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A combination from Canti does no damage.
Canti takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cannon. Canti does a little dance to reset his feet.
A lazy left from Canti finds it's target.
Canti misses with a two punch combination.
Canti misses with an uppercut.
Canti takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Canti takes a swing at Cannon's ribcage but misses.
Cannon slips under a jab from Canti.
Canti throws a hook to the side of Cannon's head but Cannon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cannon punishes Canti's body with a nice straight punch.
Cannon misses with a two punch combination.
No joy there for Canti, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cannon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Cannon pushes Canti up against the cage in a clinch.

Canti pulls guard effortlessly.
Cannon looking to pass the guard.
Canti is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cannon distracts Canti with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Cannon's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cannon trying to control the position from guard on top but Canti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cannon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Cannon is working Canti over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Canti avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Canti controlling Cannon's posture.

Cannon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cannon postures up in Canti's guard and throws a big left but Canti blocks it.
Cannon wants to pass the guard but Canti is keeping the position.
Cannon trying to control the position from guard on top but Canti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Canti fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cannon manages to avoid it.

Cannon misses with a straight right.
Cannon lands a slapping body shot.
Carlos Canti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cannon shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Canti has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cannon is working away from the top position though.
Cannon with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Cannon wants to pass the guard but Canti is defending well.
Canti is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cannon throwing shots but Canti is blocking nicely.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Canti throws a series of strikes that have Cannon backpedaling.
Cannon doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Canti misses with a double jab
and Cannon counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Canti gets caught flat footed, as Cannon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Canti is looking for a triangle but Cannon pushes his legs off easily.
Canti looks gassed!
Cannon is in close to Canti's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Cannon connects with a couple of short punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Salvador Cannon will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Cannon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Canti changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cannon fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Canti throws a right and a left that both miss.
Canti takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Carlos Canti is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Canti is breathing heavily.

Cannon throws a combination. Canti tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Canti jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cannon throws a series of strikes that have Canti backpedaling.
Cannon throws a jab but it's blocked by Canti.
Canti misses with the combination.
Cannon is looking to wear down Canti with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Cannon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Canti moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cannon just misses with a punch to the body.
Cannon darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Canti is refusing to be controlled, as Cannon sits in half guard.

Canti is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cannon pulls his head out easily.

Canti is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cannon pulls his head out easily.
Canti is staying active underneath Cannon, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Canti trying to hold on to Cannon's head to control him but Cannon postures up.
Cannon is taking a breather. Canti says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Cannon lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Cannon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Canti is positioning himself well to prevent Cannon advancing to mount.
Canti trying to hold on to Cannon's head to control him but Cannon postures up.

Canti looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Cannon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Canti with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cannon landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Canti gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cannon to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Cannon is looking to work some ground and pound but Canti has wrist control.
Canti utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Canti can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cannon controls the pace.

Cannon stalling.

Cannon is trying to control. Canti wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Salvador Cannon.
Canti looks to score with a jab to the body but Cannon is just out of range.
Canti moves out of range as Cannon strikes.
Cannon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Canti moves away.
Cannon misses with a low kick.
Canti scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Cannon is struggling to control the position.
Cannon stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Canti tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cannon smiles and moves away.
Canti fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Canti fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cannon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Canti moves away.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Canti wants to control but Cannon is keeping busy.

Cannon content to control rather than advance.
Salvador Cannon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Canti is looking to control Cannon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Canti avoid being mounted?

Canti is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cannon pulls his head out easily.
Canti takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cannon passes to full mount!
Carlos Canti has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cannon in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Cannon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Salvador Cannon showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cannon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
