PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matias Alderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoger Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alderson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Dark moon High tide. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matias Alderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hoger Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alderson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gracie.
Gracie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alderson defends it nicely.
Alderson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alderson swivels and escapes.
Matias Alderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hoger Gracie.
Alderson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Gracie looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Alderson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gracie's guard.
Alderson content to stall in guard here.
Alderson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gracie looking for a sweep. Not yet Gracie, not yet.
Alderson controlling from the top position.
Alderson stands and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Alderson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Gracie trying to pass the guard but Alderson defending well.
Gracie has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Alderson works to full guard.
Gracie is working Alderson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gracie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alderson's guard.
Gracie wants to take a breather but Alderson is having none of it.
Gracie missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Alderson kicks off Gracie and gets to his feet.
Gracie tries to land a leg kick but Alderson saw it coming and moves away.

Alderson closes the distance and clinches.
Gracie stalling against the cage.
Gracie tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Gracie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alderson walks away with a smile on his face. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matias Alderson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Alderson tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Alderson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gracie's head backwards.

It looks like Hoger Gracie has been cut.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt
and Alderson counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
It's a brutal combination of punches from Alderson! Gracie is backing up but he can't get away as Alderson lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Gracie and ends the fight. Great knockout.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Matias Alderson!
