PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Charon Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawkins is looking to clinch.
Hawkins lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Hawkins dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hawkins.
Gracie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hawkins throws a head kick that Gracie semi-blocks.

It looks like Max Gracie has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gracie looks to land a right hand but Hawkins moved out of range.
Hawkins connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Gracie looks gassed!
Hawkins misses with an uppercut. Gracie saw that one coming.
Hawkins misses with a wild combination.
Hawkins swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.

Hawkins clinches with his opponent.

Hawkins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hawkins darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hawkins feints and then cracks Gracie's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gracie down.
Hawkins dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gracie. That did some damage!

Hawkins clinches up with Gracie and pushes him back against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hawkins is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gracie is aware though and is defending well.
Hawkins manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hawkins lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Gracie hang on?

Hawkins wants to control the pace but Gracie is squirming around nicely.
Gracie takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Gracie tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hawkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hawkins cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hawkins lands a big shot there that rocks Gracie but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Hawkins breaks from Gracie's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie has left one of his arms exposed and Hawkins doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Gracie screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
