PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luigi Marzapane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Cutler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marzapane comes to the cage accompanied by Survivor - Eye of the Tiger . Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cutler takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Cutler circles away from the clinch attempt.
Marzapane throws a hook but Cutler blocks it.
Cutler misses with a double jab.
A left and a right from Marzapane both land. Nice combination.

Cutler looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Marzapane!

Cutler swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Marzapane is now in Cutler's guard. A big mistake from Cutler there, giving up the dominant position!

Marzapane got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cutler has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Marzapane has managed to get both his arms back between Cutler's legs - danger averted.

Marzapane is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

That was a close round but I would say that Luigi Marzapane will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Marzapane, as that shot connected.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Marzapane digs a good body shot into Cutler's ribs.
Cutler shoots in looking for a takedown. Marzapane tries to sprawl out of it but Cutler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marzapane manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Marzapane misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cutler changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marzapane tries to avoid it but Cutler manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marzapane to the ground. Marzapane escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cutler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marzapane's waist but Marzapane gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cutler off to one side.
Luigi Marzapane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Cutler.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marzapane, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
