PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marius Mousasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walter Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen lil walter as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walter Jones!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mousasi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.
Mousasi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mousasi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.
Mousasi waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jones.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mousasi sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mousasi is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.

Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jones takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mousasi's head.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mousasi throws a body punch but Jones moves out of range.
Marius Mousasi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mousasi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Jones wants to clinch up but Mousasi keeps it at a distance.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jones connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mousasi momentarily.
Mousasi throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it.

A head kick lands from Jones that sends Mousasi to the canvas. Mousasi tries to scramble back to his feet but Jones brings him back down into side control.

Mousasi is rocked!

It looks like Marius Mousasi has been cut.
Jones passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Mousasi!

Jones wants to finish this one by submission but Mousasi is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Jones.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Jones! Mousasi is hurt baaadly! Jones is firing away with more strikes - Mousasi is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
