The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
FINITO throws a body punch but Gomez moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gomez is defended easily by FINITO.

Gomez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and FINITO defends it well.

Gomez shoots for a double leg takedown but FINITO sprawls well. He's pushed Gomez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gomez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gomez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. FINITO swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gomez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gomez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
FINITO wants to hit a switch here but Gomez passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for FINITO there!
Gomez throws a wild left hand from mount and FINITO manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Gomez is looking to take a break and control but FINITO is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gomez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gomez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

FINITO is in trouble now - Gomez has advanced to mount!
FINITO tries to lock up and control but Gomez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Gomez throws some wild stikes that FINITO manages to avoid easily.

FINITO is in all sorts of trouble here.
Gomez looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Gomez looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Gomez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force FINITO to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so FINITO shrugs it off.

Hercules Gomez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gomez drops back, looking for a kneebar! FINITO looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. FINITO looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from FINITO!

FINITO is posturing up here but Gomez has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! FINITO tries to roll out but it's too tight and FINITO has to tap! Slick submission there by Gomez!
