PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brad Rood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Osorolh Darar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rood kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Enter Sandman, by Metallica. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Rood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Osorolh Darar!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Rood. Beautiful body shot.
Darar wants to clinch up but Rood keeps it at a distance.
Darar is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rood takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Rood throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Darar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Rood shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Darar's guard.
Rood is looking to work some ground and pound but Darar has wrist control.
Rood won't allow Darar to get back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rood accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Darar utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rood tries to free his leg and advance position but Darar is retaining full guard.
Rood postures up.
Rood missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Darar is looking to stand up but Rood isn't so interested in that idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rood defending well as Darar loads up on a big left hand.
Rood shoots in and drives through. Darar sprawls well.
Rood misses with a few strikes there.
Darar wants to clinch up but Rood keeps it at a distance.
Rood throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rood misses with a wild combination.
Darar dodges the punch combination from Rood.
Rood fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Darar misses with a low kick as Rood jumps back.
Rood swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rood cracks Darar with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Rood looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rood looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Rood. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rood feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Darar pulls Rood in close to prevent any damage.
Rood pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Darar is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rood drops back looking for a leg! Darar is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Darar manages to kick Rood off! Rood jumps back into Darar's guard.
Darar lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rood!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rood working to try and regain half guard.
Darar tries to control but Rood wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rood bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Darar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rood. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rood sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Darar's guard.

Rood seems to be working for a kimura but Darar defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rood trying to pass the guard but Darar defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rood stops Darar from getting back to his feet.
Rood prevents Darar from improving his position.
Darar wants to get back to his feet.
Darar is trying to maintain the position but Rood is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Darar ducks under a wild hook from Rood.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Rood dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Rood lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Darar backs up against the cage.
Rood checks a leg kick.

A jab-cross combination lands for Rood and sends Darar crashing to the mat! Rood follows him down to the mat - Darar regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Darar is rocked!
Rood thows a huge punch but Darar dodges it nicely.
Darar is still in real trouble! Can Rood finish him?
Rood throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rood throwing shots but Darar is blocking nicely.
Darar seems to have recovered his senses.
Darar trying to control but Rood postures up.
Rood passes to full mount!
BOOM! Rood connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's one minute gone in the round.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rood cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Rood working Darar over with strikes here.
Rood scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Darar?
Rood loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Darar scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Rood land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Rood stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brad Rood!
