Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Slim Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alcaeus Theban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Theban is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alcaeus Theban!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles slaps away a takedown attempt from Theban, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Charles takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Theban bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Charles pushes Theban away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Theban gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

I looks like Theban might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Charles sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Charles tries to kick Theban off but Theban keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Theban is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Alcaeus Theban.

Charles fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Theban manages to avoid it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Charles has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Theban is working away from the top position though.

Charles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Charles fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Theban checks it well.
Charles lands a head kick. Theban smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Charles throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Charles can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Theban controls the pace.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Theban is taking a breather. Charles says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
