Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jarryd Hayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshihiro Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jarryd Hayne has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayne tries to close the distance and clinch up but Machida swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hayne gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Machida to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Machida is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hayne is trying to control the position but Machida postures up.
Hayne wants to sweep but no luck.
Hayne throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Machida thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hayne looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Still in half guard, Hayne seems content to control.

Hayne seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Machida does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hayne in particular looking to stall.
Hayne has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hayne is nestled in close to Machida, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hayne knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machida on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hayne throws some wild stikes that Machida manages to avoid easily.

Hayne wants to improve his position but Machida is controlling well.

Machida looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hayne might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Machida is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hayne is just riding it out for now. Machida eventually gives up the hold.
Hayne is looking for a sweep. Machida is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
