The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jefferson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
mirelez is trying to get back to half guard.
Jefferson slows the pace down.

Jefferson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Jefferson wants to work for an arm triangle but mirelez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jefferson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so mirelez is just riding it out for now. Jefferson eventually gives up the hold.

Jefferson feints and as mirelez raises his hands in defense, Jefferson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

and Jefferson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in mirelez's guard now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
mirelez has Jefferson pulled in close to control his posture.

Jefferson misses with a takedown attempt - mirelez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jefferson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jefferson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Jefferson controls mirelez momentarily but mirelez frees himself.
Jefferson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
mirelez tries to reverse the position but Jefferson maintains control.
mirelez swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

mirelez is trying to escape the mount but Jefferson keeps good control and instead manages to take mirelez's back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jeffy Jefferson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
mirelez trying to control the action but Jefferson just sinks the hooks in.
mirelez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jefferson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
