Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Montey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Willian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Montey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Henry Willian!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Willian works over Montey's head and body with a nice combination.

Willian has Montey up against the cage in a clinch.

Montey has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Willian is trying to keep an underhook but Montey manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Montey is keen to just control but Willian is a slippery customer.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Willian wants to get back to his feet.
Montey looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Willian displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Montey.
Montey is looking to clinch but Willian is avoiding it.

Montey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Willian sprawls well. Willian wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Montey gets slowly back to his feet.

Willian goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Willian feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Montey is trying to keep Willian in close.
Montey has control of Willian's left arm, preventing Willian from doing any damage.

Montey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Willian on the ground.

Montey is working an open guard so Willian takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Montey misses with a jab, cross combination.
Willian throws a series of strikes that have Montey backpedaling.
Montey shoots in looking for a takedown. Willian tries to sprawl out of it but Montey keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Willian manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Montey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Montey is breathing heavily.
Willian stalks Montey and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Montey's face. Montey staggers backwards, shaken.
Willian leaves Montey with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Montey dives in and grabs Willian's left leg, looking for a takedown. Willian pushes down on Montey's head and hops out.

Willian lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Willian.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Willian.
Henry Willian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Willian lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Willian looks to land a combination. Montey sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Willian!
Willian moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Willian lands with a nice combination. Montey backs away looking to recover.

Willian fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Montey, pushing him back against the cage.
Willian wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Willian creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Willian pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Montey is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Willian.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Willian throws a combination. Montey tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Willian fails with a takedown attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Montey is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Willian.
Willian looks to land a combination. Montey sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Willian stalks Montey and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Montey's face. Montey staggers backwards, shaken.
Montey tries for a takedown but Willian sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Willian is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Willian bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Montey's head backwards.
James Montey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Montey takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Willian lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Montey backs up against the cage.
Montey has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Willian fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Willian scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Montey looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Willian is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Montey can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Montey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Willian has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Montey is forced to tap!
