PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zuffa Bellator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and CJ Dewing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dewing has chosen Let Your Love Flow - Bellamy Brothers as his entrance music. Zuffa Bellator could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to CJ Dewing's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Zuffa Bellator!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, CJ Dewing!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bellator tries to clinch up but Dewing circles away and keeps his distance.
Bellator is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dewing.
Dewing shoots for a double leg takedown but Bellator sprawls well. He's pushed Dewing's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Dewing feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dewing closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bellator did well to prevent Dewing getting side control.

Dewing fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bellator avoids it really well and circles away.

Bellator lands a big uppercut and Dewing crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Dewing looks OK. Bellator waves Dewing back to his feet!


It looks like CJ Dewing has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bellator throws out a loose jab but Dewing uses good head movement to avoid it.
Bellator fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bellator tries to bum rush Dewing with a series of wild strikes but Dewing uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bellator throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Dewing gets the takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Bellator's face as Dewing controls the position.

Dewing tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dewing has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bellator is trying to control Dewing's posture but Dewing avoids it.

Dewing closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Dewing is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bellator is just riding it out for now. Dewing eventually gives up the hold.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bellator swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Dewing has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dewing keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bellator's efforts to push away.

Bellator goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Bellator lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Dewing drops back looking for a leg! Bellator is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bellator manages to kick Dewing off! Dewing jumps back into Bellator's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Zuffa Bellator.
I think Dewing has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
