The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wasama shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mattila napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Mattila seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wasama does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wasama can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wasama is staying active underneath Mattila, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mattila is stalling here. Wasama is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mattila seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Wasama has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mattila has one foot on Wasama's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Mattila tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wasama sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mattila somewhat.

Mattila drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wasama dives on top into guard.

Wasama wants to get up but he can't break Mattila's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Mattila escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wasama gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
