Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tom Hope!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good work by McNutt as he checks the leg kick.
Hope fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
McNutt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
McNutt moves out of range as Hope throws a body kick.
McNutt misses with a low kick.
Hope doesn't manage to clinch there - McNutt circles away.
Hope misses the shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McNutt misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hope shoots for a takedown but McNutt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

McNutt leaves Hope with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
McNutt throws a series of strikes that have Hope backpedaling.

Hope stands up from mount. Strange move.
Hope throws a body kick that misses.
McNutt shoots for a takedown but Hope saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hope looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hope tries to clinch there but McNutt circles away.
Tom Hope seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hope misses with a kick to the body.
A jab lands there for Hope.

Hope shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McNutt controls Hope momentarily but Hope frees himself.
McNutt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hope's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hope can do anything to dispel that myth.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hope tries for a takedown but McNutt circles away easily
and McNutt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hope gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and McNutt counters with a straight right hand.
McNutt catches Hope with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

and McNutt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hope closes the distance but McNutt moves to the side
and McNutt counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
No joy there for McNutt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

McNutt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hope tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Hope is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McNutt sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hope is looking to get to half guard.
Hope wants to hold on but McNutt pushes him away.

Hope keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hope bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Hope tries to stand but McNutt is controlling from the bottom.
McNutt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McNutt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's time! McNutt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


A shot to the liver by Hope. Beautiful body shot.
Hope clinches but McNutt breaks the clinch
and Hope takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hope throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hope tries for a takedown but McNutt circles away easily

and McNutt counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
McNutt content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Hope tries to roll over but McNutt keeps him under control.

Hope wants to get back to his feet.
Hope is doing well to control the position and prevent McNutt from advancing to side control.
Hope throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McNutt passes into side control, despite Hope's attempt to control the position.
Hope wants to control but McNutt postures up.
McNutt advances nicely into full mount.
McNutt tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hope tries to hold on but McNutt postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McNutt prevents Hope from getting the reversal.
McNutt wants to control the pace but Hope is squirming around nicely.
Hope really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McNutt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hope wants to try and get back to his feet.
McNutt connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
