PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tweed Apollo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Romet Kyttim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Apollo tries to clinch there but Kyttim circles away.
Apollo tries to clinch up.
Apollo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kyttim paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kyttim defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Apollo.
Apollo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Kyttim throws a combination. Apollo tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Tweed Apollo has been cut.

and Apollo counters with a shoot takedown. Kyttim fights it but they end up in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Apollo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kyttim is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Apollo, into his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Apollo wants to stand and escape but Kyttim is having none of it.

Kyttim keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Apollo's head.

Apollo closes the distance and clinches.

Tweed Apollo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Romet Kyttim.

That was a close round but I would say that Tweed Apollo will probably get the nod.

Kyttim shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Apollo sprawls well. Apollo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kyttim gets slowly back to his feet.

Kyttim is stalling here. Apollo is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kyttim seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Apollo has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Apollo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kyttim napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Apollo swings around for an armbar but Kyttim sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Apollo's guard.
Kyttim seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
