PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hux Flux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Carween (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hux Flux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Shane Carween!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flux connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.


It looks like Shane Carween has been cut.
Carween throws a body punch but Flux moves out of range.

Flux shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Carween manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Flux missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Flux drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Flux jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Carween wants to sweep here but Flux controlling him for the moment.

Flux is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Carween is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Carween has escaped and now he's on top!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Carween working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Flux's head.

Carween postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Flux might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Flux is trying to control the position but Carween postures up.
Carween with a flurry of punches that miss.
Carween trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Carween works over Flux with some ground and pound from guard.
Carween throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Flux manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Flux is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Carween to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Carween shrugs it off.

Flux jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Carween manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Carween is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Flux off and has taken his back!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Carween is throwing shots to the body but Flux manages to wriggle free. Carween pounces on him again and ends up in Flux's guard.

Flux preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Carween must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Carween postures up in Flux's guard and throws a big left but Flux blocks it.
Carween trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Flux shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Flux was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Flux is breathing heavily.

Flux is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Carween has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Carween really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Flux. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Flux goes for an armbar but Carween turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Carween.

Carween is looking to work some ground and pound but Flux has wrist control.

Carween throws a strike but Flux rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Flux drops back, looking for a kneebar! Carween looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Carween looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Carween!
Carween throwing strikes but Flux manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Flux wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carween, who protects the arm well.

Flux tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Flux has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Flux goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Carween rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Flux's guard! Nice work there by Carween!

Carween throws and elbow that misses. Flux uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Carween's guard. Nice move by Flux!

Flux utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Carween throws and elbow that misses. Flux uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Carween's guard. Nice move by Flux!

Flux drops back looking for a leg! Carween is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carween manages to kick Flux off! Flux jumps back into Carween's guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Carween misses with a wild body shot.
Flux fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Carween avoids it really well and circles away.
No joy there for Flux, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carween stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carween wants it to stay on the feet.

Flux thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Flux has gone for a leg lock! Carween slips out almost immediately though and dives into Flux's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carween accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Flux controlling the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carween loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Carween wants to stand and escape but instead Flux has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Carween stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hux Flux. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Flux shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carween as he avoids it easily.
Carween moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Flux fails with a takedown attempt.
Carween jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Carween defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Flux.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Carween throws a right hand that Flux ducks under and follows up with a left that Flux also avoids with ease.

Carween instigates a clinch.
Flux blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Carween breaks the clinch.
Flux will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Carween scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Flux shoots in for a takedown but Carween shows good takedown defense.
Carween scores with the left hand. Flux knows he should have avoided that one.
Shane Carween is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Flux decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hux Flux overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Flux is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carween is looking to control Flux's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Carween avoid being mounted?
Flux is trying to control the action in half guard but Carween is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Carween is trying to control but can't.

Flux is working for a kimura but Carween is defending it quite comfortably.

Carween is in trouble now - Flux has advanced to mount!

Flux has control of Carween's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Carween regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Carween has left one of his arms exposed and Flux doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Carween screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
