Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Heizel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Roc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roc has chosen Hey Man, Nice Shot as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matt Heizel!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jay Roc!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roc shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Roc was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Heizel sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Heizel is looking for a sweep. Roc is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Roc wants to take a breather but Heizel is having none of it.

Roc sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Heizel defending well though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Roc.
Heizel missing with a left hand there. Roc was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A head kick misses from Heizel.

Roc shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Heizel is trying to defend but Roc finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Roc is looking to pass Heizel's guard but actually Heizel recovers to full guard.

Roc is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Heizel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Heizel has escaped and now he's on top!

Heizel decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Roc slips a jab and a cross from Heizel.
Roc is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Roc drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Roc postures up in Heizel's guard and throws a big left but Heizel blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roc wants to control from the top but Heizel keeps moving.

Roc is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Heizel keeping moving, preventing Roc from controlling successfully.

Roc drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Heizel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Roc has Heizel in his guard.

Roc is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Heizel defends well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Roc has a closed guard, preventing Heizel from standing up.

Roc looking for subs off his back but Heizel has passed one foot through into half guard.
Heizel tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Roc.

Roc looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Heizel gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Heizel, as that shot connected.
Heizel cracks the inside of Roc's front leg.
Roc looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Heizel swinging wildly here.

Heizel lands a big head kick that sends Roc tumbling to the mat! Heizel takes a step backwards and waves Roc back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Heizel circles away from the clinch attempt.
Heizel paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A punch combination from Heizel misses.

Matt Heizel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roc looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Heizel swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Roc takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Heizel lands a nice looking body shot.
Heizel is looking to slow Roc down with leg kicks.
Heizel digs a good hook to Roc's body.
Heizel throws a right and a left that both miss.
A nice leg kick lands there from Heizel.
Heizel connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Heizel turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Matt Heizel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Heizel scores with a body shot.
Heizel lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Nice body punch from Heizel.
Heizel with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Heizel lands with a hook. Roc tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Roc tries to clinch up.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Heizel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Heizel throws a good cross that connects.
No joy there for Heizel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Roc will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Matt Heizel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Roc.
Heizel dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Roc. That did some damage!
Roc takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Heizel lands a jab to the head.

Roc is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Heizel darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Roc is still on wobbly legs! Can Heizel finish him?

Roc doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Heizel feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Roc crashing to the mat! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Matt Heizel!
