Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vitor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Shockey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vitor Belfort has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vitor Belfort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Shockey!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shockey takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Shockey drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Belfort regains half guard.
Belfort pushes Shockey off looking to stand but Shockey dives back in and keeps control.

Belfort is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Shockey pulls his head out easily.
Belfort is breathing heavily.
Shockey missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Shockey tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Belfort.
Shockey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Belfort does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Shockey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belfort. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shockey might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Belfort kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Shockey has managed to clinch.

Shockey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Shockey, right into the meat.

Shockey misses with a head kick.

Shockey shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Belfort napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Belfort is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Belfort is looking for a sweep.
Belfort is not content to let Shockey control the position.
Belfort avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Shockey.
Shockey scores with a couple of short elbows.
Belfort tries to bench press Shockey off him but Shockey keeps the position.
Shockey scores with punches from side control.

Shockey stands up and beckons Belfort to his feet.
Shockey cracks Belfort with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Shockey connects with a solid leg kick.
Shockey goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Shockey moves into the clinch.
Shockey stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Shockey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shockey scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Belfort shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
A left and a right from Shockey both land. Nice combination.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shockey shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Belfort napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Shockey is working Belfort over with some ground and pound from side control.

Shockey tries for a kimura but Belfort is defending well.

Shockey decides to take the fight back to the feet.

A slapping leg kick lands for Shockey.

and Shockey counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Shockey pulls Belfort into guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Belfort prevents Shockey from getting back to his feet.

Belfort drops back, looking for a kneebar! Shockey looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shockey looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shockey!
Belfort is looking to regain half guard here but Shockey keeps moving and retains side control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Shockey is looking to take a break and control but Belfort is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Belfort tries to buck Shockey off but Shockey is having none of it.
Shockey landing strikes.
Belfort is trying to buck Shockey off.
Shockey throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shockey lands a nice forearm strike.
Belfort is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Some wild striking there from Shockey.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Shockey closes the distance and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Belfort shoots and misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Shockey lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Shockey.

Belfort gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Shockey to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Shockey gets to his feet - Belfort follows without any prompting.
Jim Shockey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shockey clinches with his opponent.
Shockey lands an elbow inside.
Shockey makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Shockey pulls guard effortlessly.
Belfort stops Shockey from standing up.

Belfort drops back looking for a leg! Shockey is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shockey manages to kick Belfort off! Belfort jumps back into Shockey's guard.

Belfort is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Shockey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Belfort doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Belfort manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Belfort is fighting to break Shockey's control of his arms but Shockey is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Shockey wants to stand and escape but Belfort is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Belfort will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Shockey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Shockey throws a nice looking combination but Belfort bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Shockey's corner calls for a 1-2. Shockey obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Shockey buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Belfort gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Shockey counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Belfort shoots and misses
and Shockey makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vitor Belfort. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shockey thuds his right hand into Belfort's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Shockey connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Shockey jumps guard and drags Belfort to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Belfort postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shockey is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Belfort, into his guard.
Belfort wants to stand up but Shockey is controlling him.
Shockey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Belfort works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Shockey must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Shockey stands and steps away. Belfort gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Shockey works over Belfort's head and body with a nice combination.

Jim Shockey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Shockey lands with an uppercut that bounces Belfort off the cage and back into rage.

Belfort takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Belfort moves forwards but Shockey connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Shockey tries to bum rush Belfort with a series of wild strikes but Belfort uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Shockey misses with a few strikes there.

and Shockey holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

A jab from Shockey finds it's way through Belfort's defenses.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Belfort. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Belfort gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shockey prevents Belfort from getting back to his feet.
Belfort manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Belfort is working for a guillotine from mount but Shockey frees his head quite easily.
Jim Shockey has got the better of the ground game so far.
Shockey is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

You get the feeling that Shockey really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Belfort has hold of Shockey's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Shockey manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Belfort is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shockey can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Well Shockey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
