Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Berry White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marius Van Veenen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Berry White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marius Van Veenen!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

White scores a takedown into full mount!
Van Veenen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Van Veenen's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Veenen avoids a series of strikes thrown by White.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Van Veenen thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
White looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
White tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Van Veenen looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
White has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Van Veenen's lack of action.
Van Veenen wants to lay and pray for a moment but White keeps working.

White pulls Van Veenen in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

White shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than White was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

White looking to ground and pound but Van Veenen is blocking nicely.
Van Veenen holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as White tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

White goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Van Veenen is on top in guard.
White pulls Van Veenen in close to his closed guard and prevents Van Veenen from doing any damage or advancing position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Van Veenen parries the strikes from White easily there. White is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Van Veenen to escape.

White misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

White working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
White in side control, throwing shots but Van Veenen defends.

White swings around for an armbar but Van Veenen sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into White's guard.
White on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if White tries to get out of the position.
Van Veenen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Van Veenen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of White is proving hard to escape from.

Van Veenen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Van Veenen trying to control the position from guard on top but White is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

White is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Van Veenen defends well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
White displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Van Veenen.

White drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

White is trying to get an arm triangle but Van Veenen is defending well.
White laying and praying for a moment but Van Veenen takes advantage and regains half guard.

White wants to pass to mount but Van Veenen is defending the position.
White looks to land a strike but Van Veenen avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
White loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
White passes into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

White is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Van Veenen still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Van Veenen has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


White misses with a low kick.
White shoots in for a takedown but Van Veenen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Van Veenen tries to score a power double leg takedown but White sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Van Veenen somewhat.
White misses with a series of wild punches.

White gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Van Veenen to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Van Veenen throws and elbow that misses. White uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Van Veenen's guard. Nice move by White!

White postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Van Veenen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of White, into his guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Van Veenen decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on White, up you get!
White throws a series of punches but Van Veenen avoids them all with ease.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

White has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Van Veenen clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
White is striking from the back but Van Veenen escapes and manages to recover to half guard.
White looks to land a strike but Van Veenen avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Berry White is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

White slips nicely into half guard.
White perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Van Veenen is trying to stand up here but White is controlling him well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
White seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Van Veenen for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Berry White.

White moves into the clinch.
Van Veenen wants to get back to striking at distance but White won't allow it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Van Veenen is fighting off a takedown attempt but White is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Van Veenen to the mat. Van Veenen regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
White slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Marius Van Veenen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
White passes Van Veenen's left leg - he's now in half guard.
White performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Berry White showed his dominance in that final round.
Well White has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
