Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Javaris Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phillipe Render!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson moves into the clinch.
Jackson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Render jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jackson walks away with a smile on his face. Render gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jackson avoids the head kick by Render.

Render is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jackson's half guard.
Jackson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Jackson is looking to improve his position.
Render is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer.
Render missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Render is working away from the top position though.
Render wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.

Render throwing shots but Jackson is blocking nicely.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Render closes the distance looking to clinch

and Jackson counters by moving into the clinch.

Jackson breaks from the clinch.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jackson tries for a takedown but Render circles away easily

and Render counters with a single leg into guard. Jackson didn't expect that.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Render passes into half guard.
Render stops Jackson from getting back to his feet.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Render wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.

Render decides to stand up.

Render fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Render persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Render trying to control from half guard but Jackson is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson tries to get to full guard but Render has control of the leg.
Render trying to mount his opponent but Jackson defends it.

Jackson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Render wants to take a breather but Jackson is having none of it.
Render might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jackson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jackson has his takedown stuffed

so Render counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Javaris Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Render passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Jackson can't do much from the bottom here.
Jackson is looking to regain half guard here but Render keeps moving and retains side control.
Render wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.

Render decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Render closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jackson did well to prevent Render getting side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Render decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Render shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jackson napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Render cracks Jackson with an elbow. That is naaassty.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Render's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Render is looking for the choke from the back position but Jackson is controlling his hands well.

Jackson breaks Render's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson won't allow Render to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Render shoots and misses

and Jackson moves into the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Jackson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jackson moves into the clinch successfully.
Jackson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Render smiles and moves away.

Render closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jackson to the mat! Jackson manages to get full guard.

Render wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
Jackson is pulling down on Render's head. It's preventing any offense from Render, at least for the moment.
Jackson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phillipe Render showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Jackson closes the distance and clinches.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Render goes for a takedown attempt but Jackson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jackson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Render doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jackson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Render is trying to stall.

Jackson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson shoots and misses

and Render counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Render trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Render pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jackson is keeping the position for now.

Render has gone for a leg lock! Jackson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Render's guard.

Jackson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Render is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jackson, into his guard.
Jackson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Render's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Jackson postures up and lands a big shot to Render's brow.
Render keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.
Render working a defensive guard here.
Render tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Render lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson!
Jackson is trying desperately to improve position.
Render is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jackson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Render looking to control but Jackson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Render jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jackson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jackson and Render has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Render has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Render is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Some bone on bone action there as Render checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Render gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jackson counters with a takedown into side control.
Javaris Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Phillipe Render is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Javaris Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phillipe Render.

Jackson tries for a kimura but Render is defending well.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Javaris Jackson.
I think Render has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
