The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St Pierre looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Aces is fending him off so far but St Pierre persists. Nope, Aces circles away and we're back to standing.
St Pierre shoots in and drives through. Aces sprawls well.
Aces throws a series of punches but St Pierre avoids them all with ease.
St Pierre shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aces but Aces pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego St Pierre. That's going to take a lot out of him.

St Pierre moves in looking to clinch but Aces pushes him off.
St Pierre has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Aces finds it's way round the side to connect with St Pierre's head.

The fight stays on the outside here - St Pierre looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
St Pierre changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aces tries to avoid it but St Pierre manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aces to the ground. Aces escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
St Pierre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Aces paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aces fakes high and swings low for a body shot but St Pierre manages to avoid it.

and Aces counters with a three punch combo that has St Pierre backing up. St Pierre nods at Aces to acknowledge the strikes.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for St Pierre. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Aces goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Aces lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

so St Pierre counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Aces has control of St Pierre's left arm, preventing St Pierre from doing any damage.

Aces seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
St Pierre is looking to stand up but Aces won't let him.
St Pierre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aces swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Aces has St Pierre pulled in close to control his posture.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Aces is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Aces looking to control.
St Pierre trying to control but Aces is working from the bottom.
St Pierre is really struggling to control Aces but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
St Pierre shoots and misses
and Aces counters with a nice body shot.

Mark Aces showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Aces gets caught flat footed, as St Pierre shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Aces decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on St Pierre, up you get!

St Pierre closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
St Pierre is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Mark Aces is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
St Pierre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aces swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Aces wants to stand but St Pierre is controlling the position.

St Pierre slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Aces wants to get back to his feet.
Aces gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Aces wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by St Pierre.

St Pierre is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Aces has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Aces is looking to improve his position but St Pierre isn't that keen on the idea.
St Pierre avoids the attempt from Aces to control.
St Pierre misses with a head shot.
Diego St Pierre has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

St Pierre is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Aces is surviving well by controlling St Pierre's body position as best he can.
