PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Esta me Dinero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Esta me Dinero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hawk lands in his opponent's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dinero is on top in guard.
Dinero trying to control but Hawk is working from the bottom.

Hawk uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Hawk keeps the fight on the outside.

Hawk shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dinero manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Dinero keeping moving, preventing Hawk from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawk not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Dinero throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Hawk throwing strikes but missing.
Dinero trying to control the position.

Hawk drops back looking for a leg! Dinero is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dinero manages to kick Hawk off! Hawk jumps back into Dinero's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hawk is working for a kimura but Dinero is defending it quite comfortably.
Dinero is not content to let Hawk control the position.

Hawk is stalling here. Dinero is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hawk seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Dinero has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Dinero is looking to take a break and control but Hawk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hawk is looking to regain half guard here but Dinero keeps moving and retains side control.
An elbow from Dinero crashes against the mat.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
You can see the frustration on Hawk's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dinero throws a quick inside leg kick.
Dinero throws a head kick but Hawk moves out of range.
Dinero fails with the takedown

and Hawk counters with a takedown into side control.

Hawk is trying to get an arm triangle but Dinero is defending well.
Hawk trying to control the action but Dinero is working from the bottom.
Dinero wants to get back to his feet but Hawk drags him back down.

Hawk goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Dinero rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hawk's guard! Nice work there by Dinero!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dinero wants to pass the guard but Hawk is keeping the position.
Dinero has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hawk is proving hard to escape from.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dinero got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hawk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dinero has managed to get both his arms back between Hawk's legs - danger averted.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Hawk counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Esta me Dinero. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hawk is trying to control. Dinero wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hawk with the ground and pound but Dinero uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Hawk trying to control the position from guard on top but Dinero is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dinero will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dinero wants to get back to his feet but Hawk is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hawk won't allow Dinero to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Hawk dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Dinero looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dinero shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dinero fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hawk avoids it really well and circles away.

Hawk shoots in and bounces Dinero off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jack Hawk has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hawk controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Hawk has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hawk postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dinero is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hawk, into his guard.

Hawk throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Dinero loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hawk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Dinero really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jack Hawk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Dinero's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Hawk shoots in for a takedown but Dinero shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dinero shoots for a takedown but Hawk saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Dinero shoots in but no luck this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hawk is looking for a kimura but Dinero is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hawk to get the leverage.

Dinero manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Hawk comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hawk winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
