Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Atlas MacDowell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ford Prefect (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacDowell's entrance music is Face The Pain. A fine choice. Atlas MacDowell has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from MacDowell lands but Prefect takes it in his stride.
A solid leg kick lands there for MacDowell.
MacDowell lands with a good body shot.
Prefect on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by MacDowell. MacDowell obviously looking to wear him down.
Prefect looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? MacDowell is fending him off so far but Prefect persists. Nope, MacDowell circles away and we're back to standing.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from MacDowell. Prefect shrugs it off though.

MacDowell delivers a nice body kick.
MacDowell lands a nice leg kick that just misses Prefect's sensitive parts.
MacDowell scores with a jab to the head.
Prefect shoots in but MacDowell avoids the takedown attempt easily.
MacDowell throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Prefect stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
This has been an exciting period of action!

MacDowell cracks a nice hook into Prefect's ribs.

Prefect shoots in and drives through. MacDowell sprawls well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
MacDowell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Prefect is controlling him.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
MacDowell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

MacDowell wants to hit a switch here but Prefect passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for MacDowell there!
Prefect takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
MacDowell sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Prefect stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Prefect steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from MacDowell. That one must have hurt.
MacDowell throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Prefect stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Ford Prefect is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Prefect has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by MacDowell.
A left and a right from MacDowell both land. Nice combination.
MacDowell cracks the inside of Prefect's front leg.
Prefect changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. MacDowell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Prefect taking a break here but MacDowell is having none of it and regains half guard.
MacDowell is staying active underneath Prefect, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

MacDowell tries to kick Prefect off but Prefect keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
MacDowell regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Prefect.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

MacDowell is looking to stand up but Prefect isn't so interested in that idea.
MacDowell is pulling down on Prefect's head. It's preventing any offense from Prefect, at least for the moment.

MacDowell stuffs the takedown attempt from Prefect. Prefect gets slowly back to his feet.
Prefect shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says MacDowell as he avoids it easily.

Prefect will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ford Prefect seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
MacDowell dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Prefect. That did some damage!

Prefect's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

MacDowell is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Prefect takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Prefect sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Good leg kick by MacDowell there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
MacDowell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Prefect can do to turn this around?
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Prefect crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from MacDowell - the referee stops the clock and Prefect gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says MacDowell. Prefect manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

MacDowell tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

MacDowell wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Prefect prevents MacDowell from breaking the clinch.
Prefect is working for takedown but MacDowell is calmly controlling the position for now.
Prefect has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from MacDowell.
Prefect keeps the fight in the clinch, despite MacDowell's efforts to push away.
Prefect is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag.
MacDowell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Prefect shoots in for a takedown but MacDowell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
MacDowell thuds his right hand into Prefect's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Crunch! MacDowell slams his shin into Prefect's torso.
MacDowell lands a nice looking kick to the body. Prefect takes a step back to recover.

and MacDowell counters with a low kick, right behind Prefect 's knee.
Prefect shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Prefect was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Atlas MacDowell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

MacDowell is desperately trying to improve his position but Prefect has a good base and remains in mount.
Ford Prefect has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for MacDowell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
