PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alan Shilt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Karate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alan Shilt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Karate!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karate tries to clinch up.
Karate is looking to clinch.
Shilt moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


It looks like Alan Shilt has been cut.
Karate rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shilt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Karate has managed to clinch.
Shilt looking to slow down the pace here.
Karate stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Shilt is breathing heavily.

Karate breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Karate misses with a double jab.
Karate misses with a wild combination.
Karate just misses with a punch to the body.
Karate throws a right and a left that Shilt avoids nicely.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Shilt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Shilt.

Karate drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Karateis looking to pass into half guard but Shilt pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Shilt is in guard.

Karate is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Shilt has hold of Karate's hands but Karate slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Karate performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Karate working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Shilt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Joey Karate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shilt dips to his left and cracks Karate with an uppercut!
Karate throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shilt.

Karate will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Karate wants to control but Shilt is keeping him busy.

Karate seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shilt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Well, if Karate is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joey Karate.

Shilt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Karate has hold of Shilt's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Shilt manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
