PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andy Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aang Havatar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Andy Kane has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andy Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aang Havatar!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kane lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Havatar backs up against the cage.
Kane is breathing heavily.

Havatar clinches up against the cage.
Kane tries to circle away but Havatar has him pinned against the cage.
Kane misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Havatar has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kane regains guard immediately.
Havatar is in close to Kane's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Havatar content to stall in guard here.
Havatar wants to control from the top but Kane keeps moving.
Kane avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Havatar works over Kane with some ground and pound from guard.

Havatar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Havatar drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Havatar jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Havatar chips away with some ground and pound.
Havatar postures up and lands a big shot to Kane's brow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kane can't keep his opponent in guard - Havatar advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Havatar is looking for a kimura but Kane is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Havatar to get the leverage.
Kane is looking for a sweep. Havatar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Havatar passes to side control.
Kane knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Havatar on the ground.
Havatar landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
You can see the frustration on Kane's face as Havatar controls the position.
Havatar has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Kane keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
A nice elbow there by Havatar.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Havatar in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Havatar breaks from Kane's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Havatar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kane is looking to escape.

Havatar lands a big elbow.
Kane takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Havatar working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Kane turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Havatar off and cradles Kane's limp body as Havatar celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Aang Havatar!
