Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). carlson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Muse- Stockholm Syndrome kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez takes a swing at carlson 's ribcage but misses.
carlson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
carlson misses with a hook to the body
and Mendez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Charles carlson has been cut.
carlson avoids the head kick by Mendez.
Mendez is looking to clinch.
carlson throws a head kick but Mendez moves out of range.
Mendez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
carlson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mendez sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nice takedown defense from carlson . No joy for Mendez on that attempt.

Tony Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

carlson takes a kick to the side of the head.
carlson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Mendez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from carlson .
Mendez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. carlson tries to avoid it but Mendez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag carlson to the ground. carlson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mendez throws a quick head kick that skims the top of carlson 's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mendez shoots in looking for a takedown. carlson tries to sprawl out of it but Mendez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. carlson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Mendez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
carlson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Mendez ducks right into an uppercut from carlson .
carlson checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
carlson lands a head shot.
Mendez looks up at the clock. Bad move! carlson lands a right hand from hell, dropping Mendez. carlson pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Charles carlson !
