PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitsuhiro Ishida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishida has chosen The Endless Warrior as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nathan Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mitsuhiro Ishida!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ishida avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Moore tries a head kick but it misses.
Moore throws a sloppy head kick and Ishida moves out of range easily.
Ishida takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Ishida throws a head kick that Moore semi-blocks.

Moore shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ishida's guard.
Moore looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Moore decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ishida, up you get!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moore has a takedown stuffed.
Moore takes a swing at Ishida's ribcage but misses.

Ishida scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Moore regains full guard. Nicely done.
Moore manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ishida manages to get himself to full guard.
Ishida looking for a sweep. Not yet Ishida, not yet.
Ishida looks gassed!

Moore tries to free his leg and advance position but Ishida is retaining full guard.
Moore sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Moore postures up in Ishida's guard and throws a big left but Ishida blocks it.
Moore seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Moore stands and throws Ishida's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Moore is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ishida knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Ishida managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Moore.

Moore cracks Ishida with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Moore slows the pace down.
Moore has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ishida really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moore. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Moore decides to stand back up. Moore steps back and let's Ishida get back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Moore.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Moore scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Moore looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Moore decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Moore looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ishida is breathing heavily.
Moore shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Ishida counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Moore pulls Ishida in close to his closed guard and prevents Ishida from doing any damage or advancing position.
Moore is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Moore is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Moore seems to be working for a kimura but Ishida defends the submission attempt.
Moore is taking a breather. Ishida says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Moore is working for a submission of some sort.
Moore takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Moore works his way into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Ishida's face as Moore controls the position.
Moore tries to move to mount but Ishida blocks the move with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moore lands a nice forearm strike.
Ishida is looking to reverse the position.
Moore in side control lands a decent elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Moore dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


An inside leg kick lands from Moore.

Ishida gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Moore to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ishida takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Moore works to advance to full mount. Ishida defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Moore sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Ishida has left one of his arms exposed and Moore doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Ishida screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
