Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jary Bazu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alan Gubaev!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bazu fails with a takedown attempt.
Gubaev shoots and misses
and Bazu counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Gubaev is lucky that one didn't land flush.
A head kick from Bazu lands but Gubaev takes it in his stride.
It looks like Alan Gubaev has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gubaev throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Gubaev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bazu counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Bazu seems to be looking for submissions.
Bazu is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gubaev sees it coming and defends easily.
Gubaev is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bazu's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bazu's back!
Gubaev connects with a big shot to the side of Bazu's head.
Gubaev slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Let's hope that Gubaev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gubaev is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bazu defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Gubaev looks gassed!
Bazu is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gubaev doesn't have the hooks in and Bazu manages to turn into his guard.
Bazu drops back looking for a leg! Gubaev is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gubaev manages to kick Bazu off! Bazu jumps back into Gubaev's guard.
Bazu drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Bazu as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Gubaev screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Bazu! Nice submission victory there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Jary Bazu!
