The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Mercury .

Fard Tard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tard looks to throw the jab but Mercury is out of range.

Tard shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mercury manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Mercury wants to improve his position but instead Tard has moved into half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tard cracks Mercury with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Mercury is in a horrible position here. Tard smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Tard tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Tard's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A big strike lands for Tard! That's really hurt Mercury and he's turned his back - Tard keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Tard jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
