PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chrisi Kay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Imran Shaah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaah has chosen Time to Say Goodbye as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Imran Shaah was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaah misses with a few strikes there.
Kay lands a slapping body shot.
Kay tries to clinch but Shaah is having none of it.
Kay getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Kay closes the distance and clinches up with Shaah, looking for a takedown. Kay pushes Shaah against the ropes but Shaah circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Some wild striking there from Shaah.
Kay steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shaah.
Shaah misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kay fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Shaah throws a sloppy body shot
and Kay counters with a straight right hand.
Kay throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shaah's waist but Shaah gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kay off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chrisi Kay. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shaah misses with an uppercut.
Kay uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shaah.
A slow jab from Kay misses its intended target.
Shaah tests Kay's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Chrisi Kay has been cut.
Kay throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Shaah will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kay tries to clinch but Shaah is having none of it.

Kay gets a takedown into half guard.

Kay content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Shaah wants to get back to his feet.

Kay is trying to control the action in half guard but Shaah is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kay missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Shaah wants to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kay blocks a jab.
A punch combination from Shaah misses.
Shaah misses the shot to the body.
Shaah looks gassed!

Shaah closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Kay manages to work his way to half guard, despite Shaah's best efforts.
Kay works his way to full guard. Good work.
Kay bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shaah's guard.
Shaah wants to stand and escape but Kay is having none of it.

Shaah can't keep his opponent in guard - Kay advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Kay is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Shaah is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
