The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKinnie shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but McKinnie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Johnson slips a jab and a cross from McKinnie.
Johnson looks to throw the jab but McKinnie is out of range.
Johnson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McKinnie misses with a double jab.
McKinnie misses with a wild combination.
McKinnie moves out of range as Johnson strikes.
McKinnie closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. McKinnie pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Johnson looks to throw the jab but McKinnie is out of range.
McKinnie rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Johnson bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops McKinnie! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

McKinnie is rocked!

It looks like Derek McKinnie has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
McKinnie is still in real trouble! Can Johnson finish him?
Johnson gets to his feet and stands over McKinnie, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! McKinnie felt that one! Johnson unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save McKinnie from any more punishment!
