PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Liam Striker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Dutch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Striker comes into the arena with MMA THEME blaring out of the sound system. John Dutch has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Liam Striker's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Liam Striker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, John Dutch!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dutch shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Striker defends it nicely.
Striker is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dutch.


It looks like Liam Striker has been cut.
Striker takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Dutch cracks Striker with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Dutch throws a looping overhand right but Striker ducks down to avoid it.
Dutch tries to score a power double leg takedown but Striker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dutch somewhat.
Dutch moves out of range of the strikes.

Dutch closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Dutch thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Striker's head.
Dutch throwing shots but Striker is blocking nicely.
Striker tries to kick Dutch off but Dutch keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Striker won't allow Dutch to pass to mount.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dutch misses the jab.
Dutch throws a jab when Striker was well out of range.

Dutch closes the distance and clinches.
Dutch working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Striker takes a shot to the head.
Dutch can't break the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Striker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Striker leaves Dutch with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Liam Striker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Dutch.
Striker takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Liam Striker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A jab from Dutch misses.
Dutch loads up on a big right hand but Striker slips the punch.
Dutch throws a hook but Striker avoids it easily.
Striker ducks under a wild hook from Dutch.

Dutch decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Striker has one foot on Dutch's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Striker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Striker is breathing heavily.
Dutch throws a jab but it's blocked by Striker.
Dutch is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Striker blocks a jab.
Striker misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dutch.
Striker throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Striker throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dutch counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Dutch, as that shot connected.
Striker will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Striker swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dutch connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Dutch tries to clinch there but Striker circles away.

Dutch closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.


Striker is rocked!
Still in half guard, Dutch seems content to control.
Dutch throwing shots but Striker is blocking nicely.
Striker avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dutch.
Dutch throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Striker wants to get back to his feet.
Dutch is trying to control the action in half guard but Striker is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dutch looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Striker with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dutch tries to close the distance and clinch up but Striker swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dutch lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Striker backs up against the cage.
Oh Striker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Striker lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Dutch closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Striker out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Dutch!
