Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, GEORGES STPIERRE!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mason scores with a takedown into STPIERRE's guard.
STPIERRE throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
STPIERRE looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
STPIERRE keeping full guard, as Mason tries to pass.
Mason is fighting to break STPIERRE's control of his arms but STPIERRE is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Mason stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows STPIERRE to get to his feet.

Mason tries to stall but STPIERRE uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
STPIERRE using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
STPIERRE goes for a takedown attempt but Mason pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Mason shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

STPIERRE is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

GEORGES STPIERRE seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mason throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around STPIERRE's waist but STPIERRE gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mason off to one side.

Mason throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Mason bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in STPIERRE's guard.

Mason decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on STPIERRE, up you get!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mason clinches.
STPIERRE tries to break the clinch but Mason is controlling the position.
STPIERRE has a couple of punches blocked by Mason.
STPIERRE tries to pull guard but Mason holds him up against the cage and eventually STPIERRE drops back down to his feet.
Alex Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of GEORGES STPIERRE.

STPIERRE escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
STPIERRE takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Mason tries to grapple but his opponent circles

so STPIERRE counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Mason wriggles free and stands up.
STPIERRE misses with a takedown attempt

and Mason counters with a single leg into guard. STPIERRE didn't expect that.
Mason wants to control from the top but STPIERRE keeps moving.

STPIERRE might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mason kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
STPIERRE can't keep his opponent in guard - Mason advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mason is keen to just control but STPIERRE is a slippery customer.
STPIERRE wants to get back to his feet.
Mason is thwarting STPIERRE's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mason wants to control but STPIERRE is keeping him busy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alex Mason.
I think Mason has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
