Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Cunnigham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cunnigham comes to the cage accompanied by Jeremy. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John McCarthy!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cunnigham keeps the fight on the outside.

Cunnigham closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
McCarthy tries to roll over but Cunnigham keeps him under control.
Cunnigham throws a strike but McCarthy avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
McCarthy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cunnigham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McCarthy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McCarthy keeping moving, preventing Cunnigham from controlling successfully.
Cunnigham won't allow McCarthy to sweep him here.
Cunnigham connects with a couple of short punches.
McCarthy is looking to stand up but Cunnigham isn't so interested in that idea.
Cunnigham working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Cunnigham lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Cunnigham trying to control but McCarthy is working from the bottom.
Cunnigham wants to pass the guard but McCarthy is keeping the position.

Cunnigham passes McCarthy's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Cunnigham is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
McCarthy wants to control but Cunnigham is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cunnigham in particular looking to stall.
McCarthy keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Cunnigham is working for a kimura but McCarthy is defending it quite comfortably.
Cunnigham stops McCarthy from getting back to his feet.
Cunnigham is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

McCarthy sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Cunnigham is keen to just control but McCarthy is a slippery customer.

McCarthy is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cunnigham throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Cunnigham has control of McCarthy's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and McCarthy regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Cunnigham throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for McCarthy because Cunnigham loaded up on that one.
McCarthy is trying to escape the mount.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cunnigham avoids the attempt from McCarthy to control.

McCarthy is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Cunnigham locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! McCarthy is forced to tap!
