Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
shepard misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Saarela throws a body kick that misses.

Saarela shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Saarela throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
shepard is staying active underneath Saarela, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Saarela looks to land a strike but shepard avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Saarela stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. shepard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
shepard has Saarela pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Saarela manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Saarela in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. shepard tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Saarela!
