The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mason winds up and cracks Cote with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Mason has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mason tries to pass to full mount but Cote defends it.
Mason not doing much here.
Mason is keen to just control but Cote is a slippery customer.
Mason passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cote!
Cote can't escape the position.
Mason breaks from Cote's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Cote is rocked!
