Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mickey O Neil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Leston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Neil comes into the arena with Golden Brown blaring out of the sound system. Leston comes into a darkened arena with his song building. BigB - Hooligan kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Tim Leston told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leston throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
O Neil avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Leston takes a swing at O Neil's ribcage but misses.
Leston with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling O Neil to score with a decent uppercut.

O Neil forces Leston back against the ropes and clinches.

O Neil breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
O Neil misses with a low kick.

O Neil forces Leston back against the ropes and clinches.

O Neil's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Leston tries to clinch up but O Neil circles away and keeps his distance.
O Neil lands the left hand.
O Neil throws a leg kick but Leston sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Leston tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Leston tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but O Neil was well out of range. Poor timing from Leston.
O Neil lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Leston throws a hook to the side of O Neil's head but O Neil sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A telegraphed right hand from O Neil misses the target.
O Neil fails to land with a series of punches.
Mickey O Neil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
O Neil pulls out of a head kick attempt.
O Neil throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Leston falls off balance throwing a combination

and O Neil counters by moving into the clinch.
O Neil scores with a hook to the body.
Leston looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

O Neil fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Leston, pushing him back against the ropes.

O Neil fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Leston manages to avoid it.
O Neil wants to land a leg kick but Leston is out of range.
O Neil lets loose with a powerful body kick. Leston will feel that in the morning.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by O Neil!

Leston throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting O Neil counter with a right hand.
Leston throws a combination but it was largely blocked by O Neil.
Leston keeps the fight on the outside.
Leston misses with a wild body shot.

O Neil gets in close and instigates a clinch.

O Neil breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

O Neil pushes Leston up against the ropes in a clinch.

O Neil uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Leston.
Leston tries to clinch but O Neil moves away
and O Neil makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

O Neil will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Leston uses good head movement to avoid the hook from O Neil.

O Neil clinches with his opponent.
Leston lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of O Neil backwards.

Leston breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
O Neil connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
O Neil throws a big shot that misses.
Leston lands with a shot to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and O Neil makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
O Neil staying out of range there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Leston misses the shot to the body.
O Neil throws a series of punches but Leston avoids them all with ease.
O Neil connects with a good right hand that stumbles Leston. Leston circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

O Neil takes the fight into the clinch.
Leston lands with a short head shot on the inside.

O Neil breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
O Neil lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
O Neil has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Leston avoids the body shot from O Neil.
Leston tries to close the distance and clinch up but O Neil swats him away and circles back towards the center.
O Neil jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Leston keeps control of O Neil as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Leston is looking to break free of the clinch but O Neil has double underhooks.

O Neil breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
O Neil tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Leston is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down O Neil rather than just go for the knockout.
O Neil throws a sloppy head kick and Leston moves out of range easily.
O Neil lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
O Neil uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Leston has time to react.

O Neil lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.


It looks like Tim Leston has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
O Neil buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

O Neil throws the kick towards the body but Leston avoids it.

O Neil turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
O Neil tries to clinch but Leston is having none of it.

and O Neil counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Leston is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by O Neil.
O Neil wants to clinch up but Leston keeps it at a distance.
O Neil swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Leston defending well as O Neil loads up on a big left hand.
O Neil chopping away at his opponent's legs.

O Neil closes the distance and clinches.
Leston wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Leston is trying to force a seperation but O Neil has the dominant position.

O Neil breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Leston throws a right hand that O Neil ducks under and follows up with a left that O Neil also avoids with ease.
Leston keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
O Neil throws out a loose jab but Leston uses good head movement to avoid it.
O Neil connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Leston momentarily.
Leston takes one to the side of the head.
O Neil is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Leston can do to turn this around?

O Neil has Leston up against the ropes in a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and O Neil counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Leston throws a nice looking combination but O Neil bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
O Neil tries to clinch but Leston is having none of it.
O Neil does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

O Neil misses with an uppercut. Leston saw that one coming.
O Neil fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Leston takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
O Neil throws a head kick but Leston moves out of range.
O Neil with a hook.
O Neil tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Both fighters circling a little - O Neil finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
No joy there for Leston, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
O Neil feints and then cracks Leston's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Leston down.

O Neil rushes Leston and presses him up against the ropes.
Tim Leston has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

O Neil breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Leston slips under a jab.
O Neil misses the jab.
O Neil misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Leston rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but O Neil moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by O Neil.
Tim Leston is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Leston takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
O Neil scores with a nice body kick.
O Neil lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mickey O Neil is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Leston wants to get back to striking at distance but O Neil won't allow it.

Leston misses with a hook from the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by O Neil.
O Neil blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Leston breaks the clinch.
O Neil moves out of range as Leston strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from O Neil, right into the meat.

Well O Neil has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
