PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tahei Uchido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uchido comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Final Battle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn drives through and clinches with Uchido against the ropes.

Uchido breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Penn decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Uchido's guard.
Uchido wants to sweep here but Penn controlling him for the moment.
Uchido keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully.
Uchido manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Penn can't escape the position.
Uchido wants to get back to his feet but Penn is holding on tight.

Penn tries to lock up and control but Uchido gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Penn keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Uchido jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Penn is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Penn and Uchido has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Uchido tries to stand but Penn is controlling his head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Uchido thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Uchido looks gassed!
Penn manages to get back to half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Uchido throwing shots but Penn is blocking nicely.
Uchido seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Penn gets full guard.
Penn manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Penn has hold of Uchido's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Uchido manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Uchido is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Penn jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Uchido manages to avoid the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Penn trying to control the position but Uchido is working away.

Penn tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Penn decides to stand back up. Penn steps back and let's Uchido get back to his feet.

Penn shoots in but no luck this time.
Uchido throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Penn.
Uchido thows a body shot but no joy.
Uchido tries to bum rush Penn with a series of wild strikes but Penn uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Uchido tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Penn counters by moving into the clinch.
Penn keeps control of Uchido as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Uchido wants to break free but Penn has control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Uchido pulls guard successfully.
Penn won't allow Uchido to get back to his feet.
Penn wants to pass the guard but Uchido is keeping the position.

Uchido is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Penn defends well.
Penn passes Uchido's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Penn thows a huge punch but Uchido dodges it nicely.

Uchido wants to get back to full guard but Penn has passed into side control.
Penn works his way to his opponent's back.
Uchido wants to escape the position.

Penn has got one arm under Uchido's chin. This could be trouble... Uchido trying to control the other hand but Penn gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Uchido has tapped out! The fight is over!
