Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Gerrard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pena's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Pitbull- Gasolina. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pena throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gerrard's waist but Gerrard gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pena off to one side.
Pena gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Pena moves out of range of the strikes.
Pena ducks right into an uppercut from Gerrard.

Pena darts in and clinches Gerrard up against the cage.
Pena unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gerrard lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
A bit of stalling here from Pena.
Pena can't get the takedown.
Gerrard takes an elbow to the temple.
Pena scores with a knee to the head.
Gerrard wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gerrard is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pena's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pena's back!
Pena has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Gerrard.

Pena manages to reverse the position and now he's in Gerrard's guard. Nice work there by Pena.

Pena drops back looking for a leg! Gerrard is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gerrard manages to kick Pena off! Pena jumps back into Gerrard's guard.

Pena wants to control from the top but Gerrard keeps moving.
Gerrard wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gerrard looks to score with a jab to the body but Pena is just out of range.
Pena moves in looking to clinch but Gerrard pushes him off.
Pena keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pena fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Gerrard misses with a wild combination.
Gerrard cracks Pena with an open hand slap.
Pena wants to clinch.
Gerrard rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pena moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Pena shoots in but Gerrard avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Pena walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Pena tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gerrard swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pena shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gerrard as he jumps to the side.
Pena uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gerrard.
Pena dodges the punch combination from Gerrard.
Pena will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Pena feints and as Gerrard raises his hands in defense, Pena changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pena missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Gerrard keeping moving, preventing Pena from controlling successfully.

Pena is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gerrard knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Pena is looking to take a break and control but Gerrard is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gerrard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pena. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gerrard is trying to control Pena's posture but Pena avoids it.
Pena wants to control but Gerrard is keeping him busy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pena moves out of range of the strikes.
Gerrard swats away the attempt to clinch by Pena.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pena is on top in guard.

Gerrard will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Pena drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gerrard looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gerrard looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gerrard!

Gerrard throws a right hand that Pena ducks under and follows up with a left that Pena also avoids with ease.
Pena shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gerrard as he avoids it easily.

Pena looks for a takedown but Gerrard sprawls well.
Steven Gerrard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gerrard tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pena swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pena looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gerrard is fending him off so far but Pena persists. Nope, Gerrard circles away and we're back to standing.

Pena has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Gerrard should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Pena has tightened it up now! Gerrard should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
