PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cooper Wyman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Graffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wyman kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Scream Aim Fire. Graffin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. American Jesus by Bad Religion kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Cooper Wyman could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Greg Graffin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cooper Wyman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Greg Graffin!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graffin swings for the body but Wyman moves out of range.
Graffin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Graffin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wyman is looking to regain half guard here but Graffin keeps moving and retains side control.
Wyman can't do much from the bottom here.
Wyman manages to work his way to half guard, despite Graffin's best efforts.
Wyman is trying to stand.
Graffin wants to pass the guard but Wyman is defending well.
Wyman is controlling Graffin's trapped leg to prevent Graffin from advancing to side control.

Wyman wants to hold on but Graffin pushes him away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wyman is working to get back to half guard.

Wyman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Wyman tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Wyman tries to lock up and control but Graffin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Graffin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Graffin lands a nice shot to the head.
Wyman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Graffin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Wyman wants to control but Graffin is having none of it.
Wyman bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wyman lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Graffin keeping moving, preventing Wyman from controlling successfully.
Wyman wants to pass the guard but Graffin is keeping the position.
Graffin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Wyman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wyman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Graffin keeps working.
Graffin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Graffin.

Wyman wants to stand but Graffin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Wyman is fighting to break Graffin's control of his arms but Graffin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Wyman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Graffin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Graffin pulls Wyman in close to prevent any damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Graffin keeps the fight on the outside.

Graffin wants to finish this one by submission but Wyman is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Graffin.

Graffin seems to be working for a kimura but Wyman defends the submission attempt.
Graffin tries to stand but can't do so whilst Wyman controls his leg.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Wyman is trying to control the position but Graffin postures up.

Graffin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Greg Graffin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Graffin looks to land a combination but Wyman avoids it well.

Graffin has Wyman up against the cage in a clinch.
Wyman blocks the elbow strike.

Wyman wants to pass the guard but Graffin is keeping the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wyman wanted to stand there but Graffin had control of the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Graffin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wyman pinned against the cage. Wyman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Wyman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Graffin sprawls well initially but Wyman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Graffin manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Wyman wants to control but Graffin postures up.
Cooper Wyman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Greg Graffin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Graffin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
