Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patrick Willis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kal Penn!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Willis is out of range.

Willis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Willis is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penn tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Willis trying to control the position from guard on top but Penn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Willis throws a big right hand that misses.
Willis wants to pass the guard but Penn is keeping the position.
Willis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Penn keeping moving, preventing Willis from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Penn tries to bum rush Willis with a series of wild strikes but Willis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Penn throws the kick towards the body but Willis avoids it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Penn misses with a series of wild punches.
Willis throws a leg kick but Penn sees it coming and moves out of range.

Penn darts in and clinches Willis up against the cage.
Penn presses Willis against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Penn displaying some good clinch control by pressing Willis up against the cage.
Willis throws a punch but it's blocked by Penn.
Willis is working for takedown but Penn is calmly controlling the position for now.
Willis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Penn just stands there and leans against the cage.

Willis is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Penn can't fight it off and eventually Willis manages to take the fight to the floor. Penn looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Willis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Willis wants to pass the guard but Penn is keeping the position.
Willis throws a big right hand that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penn is pulling down on Willis's head to control his posture.
Willis stopping the sweep attempt from Penn.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Willis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Willis scoring with some ground and pound.
Willis wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
Willis throws a strike but Penn rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Penn is stalling in the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn wants to control from the top but Willis keeps moving.
Willis wants to get back to his feet but Penn passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Willis desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Penn is trying to control. Willis wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Willis tries to get to full guard but Penn has control of the leg.
Penn looks to land a strike but Willis avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Willis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Penn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Willis trying to keep a closed guard but Penn is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patrick Willis dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Willis throws a body kick that misses.
Willis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Penn.
Willis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Willis takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Penn scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Willis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Penn lands with a shot to the body.
Penn attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Penn scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Penn with a nice cross.
Willis checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Penn lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Willis at a distance.
Penn fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Willis looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Penn connects with a nice cross there... Willis is looking wobbly and Penn recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Willis to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Penn jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Kal Penn!
