Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Vandrax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon Vandrax will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Shields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brandon Vandrax!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vandrax wants to clinch.

Shields gets the takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here as Shields stalls from top position.
Shields creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Shields looks up at the clock and then as Vandrax takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Shields smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Shields wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vandrax keeps working.
Shields scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Vandrax to see if he's OK.

Shields with the ground and pound but Vandrax regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Shields is trying to control. Vandrax wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Vandrax kicks Shields off and gets back to his feet.

and Shields decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vandrax's guard.
Shields throws a strike but Vandrax rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Vandrax wants to control from the top but Shields keeps moving.
Shields on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shields tries to get out of the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shields wants to stand but Vandrax is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Shields dives in and grabs Vandrax's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vandrax pushes down on Shields's head and hops out.

Vandrax shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Vandrax is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shields is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shields has escaped and now he's on top!
Shields passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Vandrax avoids the body shot from Shields.
Vandrax wants to clinch

and Shields counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Vandrax utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Shields controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Shields throwing strikes but missing.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shields's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Shields cracks Vandrax with a solid left hand.

Shields loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Shields trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Shields sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Shields looking to sit in guard and control but Vandrax gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Shields keeping moving, preventing Vandrax from controlling successfully.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shields is looking to stand up but Vandrax isn't so interested in that idea.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Vandrax wants to clinch

and Shields counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Vandrax has his foot on Shields's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shields works his way back into a safe position though.

Vandrax fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shields sprawls well initially but Vandrax persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Vandrax wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shields keeps working.

Vandrax seems to be working for a kimura but Shields defends the submission attempt.

Vandrax is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Mike Shields overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Vandrax throws a strike but Shields avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Vandrax wants to pass the guard but Shields is keeping the position.
Vandrax stops Shields from standing up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Shields looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Shields is looking to take a break and control but Vandrax is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

I would just about give that final round to Brandon Vandrax.
